OSHA 1910.269, which went into effect in 2014, covers the operation and maintenance of electric power generation, control, transformation, transmission, and distribution lines and equipment. The ruling requires flame-resistant clothing (FRC) protection for employees as they may encounter electric arcs. In addition, it requires a complete hazard assessment be performed by employers and considers FRC as fundamental PPE for electrical contractors and linemen.
